WakeMed Health & Hospitals conducts routine and specialized laboratory testing to aid in diagnosis and treatment. Staff use dedicated instruments and computer systems to evaluate and report patient results with substantial independent judgment within established methods.

The department leads quality control and ongoing maintenance of equipment and supplies while supporting safety and regulatory initiatives.

Qualifications

Associate's Degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Technology required.
Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science preferred.
2 years clinical experience in moderate/high complexity testing preferred.

Responsabilités

Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests for diagnosis and treatment.
Evaluate and report patient results with considerable independent judgment.
Perform quality control procedures and maintain equipment and supplies.
Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and instrumentation.
Train new employees and/or students in theoretical and operational aspects.
May assume responsibility for one or more laboratory projects or functions such as performance improvement, safety, and regulatory/compliance.
