Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a laboratory professional to independently perform routine and highly complex analyses on clinical specimens across one or more sections of the laboratory. Responsibilities include verifying analytic accuracy, calibrating and maintaining instrumentation, mentoring ALT/MLT and students, and acting as a consultant to medical staff.

A $10,000 sign on bonus is available to eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in ASCP eligible program
• PA: MLS/MT/Categorical or Specialty ASCP Certification required within 1 year of hire

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complex laboratory analyses following established criteria to provide quality clinical information
• Operates, calibrates, checks, and maintains instrumentation; addresses QC issues as needed
• Provides oversight and mentors ALT, MLT, phlebotomists, students, and new employees to ensure accuracy and quality
• Serves as a consultant to medical laboratory technicians and other health care providers; participates in continuing education
• May collect and process patient specimens per laboratory policies and procedures within expected timeframes
• Performs other duties as assigned or required

Education

Bachelor's degree in ASCP eligible program

MLS/MT/Categorical or Specialty ASCP Certification (PA) — within 1 year of hire
