Job summary

Halifax Health is seeking an experienced Medical Physicist to provide clinical medical physics services to the Radiation Oncology department. The role requires Board Certification (ABR or AMBP) and a Master’s degree, with 5–10 years of oncology experience.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Medical Physics with Board Certification (ABR or AMBP) is required.
5–10 years of radiation oncology experience is required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

Consults with Radiation Oncologist and assists in developing treatment plans.
Performs acceptance testing, commissioning and safety evaluation of new radiation sources/settings.
Performs calculations for patient treatments and verifies accuracy against physician prescriptions.
Reviews patient treatment records and follows up with Chief Medical Physicist as directed.
Performs calibrations and QA checks of treatment machines per AAPM protocols and regulatory requirements.
Collaborates with Radiation Oncologists, Therapists and Dosimetry on technical issues and new procedures.
Follows QA procedures for HDR, radiopharmaceuticals, linear accelerators and other equipment.
