Job summary

Jobot seeks a Senior Medical Malpractice Defense Attorney to join its Bethlehem, PA office. The role focuses on sophisticated malpractice defense for physicians and hospitals, handling matters from inception through trial while coordinating with insurers and clients.

The ideal candidate has substantial civil litigation and malpractice defense experience, strong deposition and trial skills, and excellent research and writing abilities.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of civil litigation experience, with significant medical malpractice defense experience strongly preferred.
• PA Bar admission required; additional state admission is a plus.
• Experience managing complex litigation matters independently.
• Strong deposition, motion practice, negotiation, and trial skills.
• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and communication abilities.
• Experience working with insurance carriers and/or self-insured healthcare organizations preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines while maintaining a high level of client service.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse caseload of medical malpractice and professional liability defense matters from inception through trial.
• Develop and implement case strategy, including liability and damages analysis.
• Conduct and defend depositions of plaintiffs, physicians, medical experts, and other witnesses.
• Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, discovery responses, briefs, and other litigation documents.
• Work closely with insurance carriers, claims professionals, healthcare providers, and other clients.
• Retain, prepare, and work with medical and other expert witnesses.
• Participate in mediation, settlement negotiations, and alternative dispute resolution.
• Handle hearings, conferences, and trials as appropriate.
• Maintain strong client relationships and provide timely, practical legal advice.
• Assist with mentoring and developing junior attorneys and litigation staff.
