Job summary

Requires a Bachelor's degree in CLS or related field, 8–10 years of clinical lab experience in two or more sections, and ASCP certification or equivalent (waived after 15 years in a designated specialty).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science or a closely related field, required.
• 8-10 years of progressively more responsible clinical laboratory experience in two or more sections of the clinical laboratory, required.
• Certified Medical Lab Scientist-ASCP certification or equivalent, required or certification is waived for applicants with a minimum 15 years experience in a designated specialty.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates specimen adequacy for test performance and obtains specimens for analyses.
• Performs routine and specialized testing in assigned area and correlates laboratory findings with disease stage.
• Reviews and verifies test results, documents all procedures, and communicates abnormal results to appropriate personnel.
• Performs daily quality control and quality assurance measures and oversees proficiency testing materials.
• Analyzes technical problems with specimen collection and instrumentation; maintains reagents and supplies.
• Maintains clean, organized work areas and adheres to LEAN standards; decontaminates surfaces and equipment.
• Ensures turnaround times are met and reports variances to supervisor.
• Participates in education and training of students and new employees; conducts lab instruction.
