Job summary

Hillsboro Medical Center seeks a Medical Technologist II/MLS to perform routine and complex tests, supporting diagnosis and patient care. The role includes leading training, overseeing competency, and assisting in procedure development and quality control within the laboratory.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s in medical technology with ASCP MLS certification and at least three years hospital experience, including possible microbiology/blood bank exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related science; 2+ years if degree not in specified fields.
• ASCP MLS certification or equivalent, required prior to offer.

Responsibilities

• Perform and evaluate quality control testing per policies.
• Train new staff in general lab practice and area of expertise.
• Oversee competency testing and lab procedures; assist in updating SOPs.
• Maintain clean, stocked work area and manage reagents.
• Communicate critical results promptly to physicians.
• Lead technologist duties when needed; coordinate scheduling and issues.
