Job summary

Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg, IL, is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Technician to join the laboratory team. You will perform routine waivered, moderate, and high complexity testing, collect and process specimens, and maintain QC and instrument performance to ensure accurate results.

The role requires an AS/MLT degree and MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification, plus at least 5 years of clinical laboratory experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology is required.
• MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification is required.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical laboratory experience.
• Ability to perform routine, moderate, and high complexity testing per CLIA.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine waived, moderately, and high complex testing.
• Collect, process and receive specimens across departments.
• Evaluate and ensure quality control data and instrument performance.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and supplies.
• Train and mentor junior MLTs and staff.
• Assist in maintaining accreditation and compliance documentation.
• Manage laboratory inventory and equipment maintenance.
• Prepare samples for testing and send out to reference laboratories.
• Collaborate with MLS staff on technical operations and workflow.
• Oversee MLTs and daily testing workflows.
