Job summary

Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital in Mooresville, NC is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform routine and complex lab tests, calibrate instruments, and ensure quality control. Responsibilities include specimen handling, proficiency testing, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Two years MLS experience and Generalist/Specialty certification are required, with opportunities to train new staff and contribute to lab improvements in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in MLS or related field with Generalist/Specialty certification.
• Two years' MLS experience and formal CLIA-compliant duties.
• Certification requirements aligned with laboratory task.
• Knowledge of quality control and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of tests in clinical laboratories using standard techniques and equipment.
• Calibrate and maintain instrumentation according to SOPs.
• Process patient samples with proper identification and documentation.
• Perform proficiency testing and document quality results for compliance.
• Train staff and support safety, workflow, and regulatory readiness.
