Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant II for a full-time role, working four 10-hour shifts per week (10:30am–9:00pm) with varied weekdays and weekend rotations. The position supports the core laboratory through specimen processing, labeling, and transport, plus phlebotomy and specialty tasks as needed.

Responsibilities include data input in the Laboratory Information System, basic clerical duties, and serving as a role model and preceptor for staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience
• Preferred certifications (e.g., phlebotomy, MLT)

Responsibilities

• Prepares, labels, and transports specimens for testing.
• Performs phlebotomy and advanced lab tasks as needed.
• Inputs and extracts data in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Answers phones and handles routine clerical duties.
• Serves as a preceptor and assists with training staff and students.
