Job summary

Houston Methodist seeks a Phlebotomist II to perform phlebotomy and specialized specimen collection in inpatient and outpatient settings. You will process, label, transport specimens and enter data into the Laboratory Information System, while delivering compassionate patient care and supporting staff.

As an experienced, competent phlebotomist, you will serve as a preceptor for staff and students, handle clerical tasks as needed, and maintain accuracy under pressure in a fast-paced lab

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; phlebotomy course preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience including data entry and specimen handling.
• Neonatal/pediatric phlebotomy experience preferred.
• CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ACA) or PBT(ASCP) certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and specialized specimen collection in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Processes, labels, transports specimens and enters data into the Laboratory Information System.
• Provides patient care and supports staff, acting as a role model and preceptor when needed.
• Handles clerical tasks such as answering phones and faxing lab reports as required.
