Job summary

UnitedHealthcare seeks a National Medical Director of Surgical Clinical Programs to lead design, development and oversight of clinical surgery programs, improving affordability and quality of care across general surgery, minimally invasive and endoscopy. You will guide a multi-disciplinary team using evidence and stakeholder feedback to lower costs and improve outcomes.

Remote work is available nationwide within the U.S., with in-office requirements near MN/DC in some cases.

Qualifications

• MD/DO with active/unrestricted medical license in one or more states.
• Board certified in General Surgery or related surgical specialty.
• 10+ years of clinical practice experience.
• 7+ years of progressive healthcare leadership experience managing clinical and cross functional teams.
• 5+ years of senior level management experience leading clinical operations in a health plan or managed care environment.
• Experience with utilization management, clinical decision support, post service review, and/or care management.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical strategy leadership for surgical programs across general surgery, minimally invasive, and endoscopy.
• Oversee site of care strategy and modernization of utilization management and retrospective review programs.
• Lead the healthcare analytics team to interpret data and guide program design.
• Communicate clinical strategy to executives and external stakeholders.
