Job summary

Avanos Medical is seeking an R&D Engineer III in Alpharetta, GA to drive the design, development, testing, documentation, and commercialization of disposable medical devices across the portfolio.

You will translate product and user needs into engineering requirements, develop robust device designs, and maintain traceable design-control documentation while collaborating with Quality, Regulatory, and Operations teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, biomedical engineering or related field.
• 5-7 years of regulated medical device design experience.
• Experience with disposable, single-use or polymer-based medical devices.
• Experience in Class II or III medical devices.
• Experience creating and maintaining Design History File documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of disposable and single-use medical devices from feasibility to commercialization.
• Translate user needs into engineering requirements and design outputs.
• Develop 3D CAD models, drawings, and tolerance analyses for disposable devices.
• Apply DFM/DFM principles for reliable, scalable production.
• Plan, execute, and document extensive engineering testing including design verification and reliability.
