Job summary

Avanos Medical, Inc. in Alpharetta, GA is seeking an R&D Engineer III to support design, development, testing, and commercialization of disposable medical devices across the portfolio.

You will translate product and user needs into robust engineering requirements, develop reliable designs, and maintain design-control documentation throughout the product lifecycle. Collaborating with Quality, Regulatory, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, and external partners, you will lead or support testing,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or biomedical engineering.
• 5–7 years of medical device design and development experience.
• Experience with disposable, single-use, or polymer-based medical devices.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of disposable medical devices from feasibility to commercialization.
• Translate user needs into clear engineering requirements and outputs.
• Develop CAD models, drawings, specifications, and tolerances.
• Apply manufacturing and assembly principles for scalable production.
• Plan and document testing: verification, validation, reliability and design-change.
• Lead prototype builds and collaborations with suppliers/partners.
• Investigate failures using structured root-cause analysis.
