Job summary

Cozen O’Connor is seeking a patent attorney with a strong background in the medical device space to join the firm’s Intellectual Property Department. Candidates will have a minimum of five years of experience and may sit in any of the listed offices, with remote work available.

The ideal candidate will have a mechanical engineering background, experience drafting and prosecuting medical device patent applications, and a strong track record in freedom-to-operate analyses and due diligence.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of patent attorney experience in the medical device space.
• Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in mechanical engineering; PhD not required.
• License in good standing in the resident state and USPTO registration required.
• Strong analytical and writing skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Draft and prosecute medical device patent applications (U.S. and worldwide).
• Perform freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses.
• Conduct due diligence and manage patent procurement services.
• Oversee and manage patent portfolios for the firm’s clients.
