Job summary

Cozen O’Connor is seeking a patent attorney with a strong medical device background to join the firm’s Intellectual Property Department. The candidate should have at least five years of experience and may sit in any of the listed offices with some remote work available.

Ideal candidates will have expertise with surgical devices for spine, knee, ankle and robotics-assisted tools; experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications and performing FTO analyses.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of experience as a patent attorney in the medical device space.
• Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in mechanical engineering; Ph.D. not required.
• Licensed to practice in the resident state and registered before the USPTO.
• Excellent academic record with strong analytical and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Draft and prosecute medical device patent applications in the U.S. and worldwide.
• Conduct freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses.
• Perform due diligence and manage patent portfolios.
• Handle patent procurement services.
