Job summary

Munson Healthcare is seeking a Health Information coder to perform inpatient coding, abstract medical records, and ensure accurate billing. The role requires coding for ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 procedures, with collaboration with CDI specialists.

The ideal candidate will have a health information degree or CCS certification and 1–3 years of experience with ICD-10 coding systems. A sign-on bonus is offered, and vaccination requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information or CCS certification is required.
• RHIT, RHIA or CCS certification is required.
• 1–3 years' experience using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems is required.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes medical records to determine items to be coded and abstracted, ensuring accuracy and productivity.
• Assigns ICD-10-CM diagnosis, ICD-10-PCS procedure codes and CPT-4 codes per guidelines.
• Abstracts/edits data as required; assigns and enters charges for ER levels and procedures per guidelines.
• Communicates with physicians and CDI specialists for clarification to ensure accuracy and reimbursement.
• Maintains organized coding reference materials and participates in educational activities to maintain skills.
