Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, Inc. is seeking a billing specialist to obtain billing documentation from physicians, input charges, and apply modifiers.

The role handles accounts receivable and claims manager edits and supports patients with billing and insurance questions. The candidate will ensure compliance with third-party payor requirements, manage workqueues, participate in daily bank deposit reconciliation, and obtain retro authorizations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of coding experience required.
• Experience working with accounts receivable and modifiers.
• Thorough knowledge of medical coding guidelines and regulations including compliance and reimbursement requirements set forth by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
• Working knowledge of medical necessity evaluation claims denials, bundling issues and charge capture.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• Knowledge of third party billing and payment requirement,as well as requirements of managed care plans.

Responsibilities

• Input charges given by physician; adding modifiers when necessary.
• Completes all accounts receivable and claims manager edits.
• Assists patients with billing and insurance related questions.
• Ensures billing compliance with third party payor requirements and regulations.
• Responsible for managing workqueues ensuring timely updates.
• Responsible for mgmt portion of daily reconciliation of bank deposits.
• Ensuring monies are deposited on a daily basis.
• Responsible for obtaining retro authorizations.
• Reviewing account receivable reports and updating.
• Educate physciains on complainces.
• Complete surgical billing.
• Performs other related duties as directed by management
