Job summary

AvonRisk is seeking a Medical Bill Reviewer to process and audit medical bills under limited supervision, ensuring compliance with workers’ compensation fee schedules. You will code bills, screen for necessity, and determine reimbursements using CPT/ICD codes and relevant fee schedules.

The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and familiarity with workers’ compensation regulations. A 40-hour Medical Bill Reviewer designation is required, with ongoing CE hours every two years.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 1 year data entry/medical billing experience; 2 years bill review experience in workers’ compensation.

Responsibilities

• Codes medical bills into the system with speed and accuracy.
• Performs preliminary screening for appropriateness and medical necessity of services.
• Uses CPT and ICD9/ICD10 codes, fee schedules, and other resources to determine reimbursement.
