Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill is seeking a Medical Assistant III, Certified to provide advanced clinical and administrative support to providers and the health care team. You will perform rooming, data collection, medication administration, phlebotomy, and assist with procedures and tests.

You will also manage registrations, scheduling, and educational materials, while maintaining exam rooms and supporting quality and safety initiatives under supervision.

Qualifications

• Requires Medical Assistant certification by AAMA, AMT, CCMA, NRCMA, or NCMA.
• Basic Life Support Certification from AHA or ARC.
• At least three years’ experience as a medical assistant.

Responsibilities

• Perform rooming and intake, collect vital signs and patient data.
• Review medication list, allergies, and preferred pharmacy; administer medications.
• Assist provider during examinations and procedures; perform phlebotomy.
• Collect specimens and perform tests (e.g., EKG, eye exams).
• Maintain exam/treatment rooms and ensure supplies and forms are available.
• Assist with patient registration, check-in/out, scheduling of tests and referrals.
• Respond to clinic calls and support team communications.
