Job summary

UNC Faculty Physicians in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking a Medical Assistant I, Certified to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic. The role operates under clinical supervision of providers and under managerial guidance for non-clinical tasks.

Expect to perform rooming, vitals, phlebotomy, specimen collection, and basic procedures such as EKGs. Strong teamwork and EMR documentation are essential, with a focus on patient education and efficient clinic flow.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES is strongly preferred but not required.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to follow supervision.
• Current Medical Assistant certification from AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA is required or preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Rooming and intake: collect vital signs, height, weight, and visit reason.
• Collect patient and family data including medical and social history.
• Review current medications, allergies, and preferred pharmacy.
• Assist the provider during treatments and procedures as directed.
• Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy when needed.
• Administer medications under provider supervision.
