Job summary

Merck is seeking an experienced leader to recruit, develop and manage a field-based medical professionals team in Oncology with a focus on coaching and performance against objectives.

You will guide disease state support plans, allocate resources, ensure policy compliance and provide project support to US Medical Affairs, while managing regional budgets and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• MD, PharmD, or PhD with demonstrated ability to effectively lead and coach scientific / medical colleagues at all skill and knowledge levels.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills, strong personal integrity, teamwork abilities across geographical areas, business acumen, and focus on scientific education and dialogue.
• Must possess a thorough understanding of FDA, OIG, HIPAA and other ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry and its customers.
• Must be able to organize, prioritize, and work effectively in a constantly changing environment and motivate a team.
• Previous oncology experience.
• Three or more years experience in a field based medical role with proven competency in customer engagement and education.

Responsibilities

• Recruiting, on-boarding, training and management of a team of field-based medical professionals.
• Responsible for performance management against objectives and competencies with coaching visits and field metrics.
• Communicate Oncology disease state support plans to the team and ensure plan execution.
• Provide input on resource development and coordinate resources for team development.
• Ensure team compliance with company policies, regulations and field safety.
• Supports Executive Director Medical Affairs via project management to develop and execute disease support plans.
• Provides project support to the national US Medical Affairs organization.
• Effectively manages regional team budget and approves routine expense reports.
