Job summary

Hadassah in New York seeks a Senior Media Relations Specialist to raise Hadassah’s profile in the US by publicizing its American and Israeli activities, including the Hadassah Medical Organization.

You will secure meaningful media coverage, craft compelling stories and ensure strong journalist relationships while coordinating with teams in the US and Israel to highlight Hadassah’s initiatives and groundbreaking medical research.

Qualifications

• BA or MA in English, Public Relations, Public Affairs or Communications.
• 5–8 years of progressively senior experience in Media Relations, Public Relations, Publicity, Public Affairs or Communications at mission-driven orgs or PR firms.
• Track record of securing coverage by major digital, broadcast and print outlets.
• Experience collaborating with colleagues at all levels across large, complex organizations.
• Experience managing interviews, including prepping interview subjects and troubleshooting during interviews.
• Experience with Meltwater, Basecamp, Monday.com, Canva.

Responsibilities

• Increase US awareness of Hadassah by generating news stories, drafting and placing op-eds bylined by senior members of leadership, and managing media relations for national programs.
• Identify opportunities for US media coverage of the medical center’s innovations; collaborate with Israel PR team and medical center PR; monitor media.
• Advise and support Hadassah’s chapters and regions’ media relations needs; engage with local Jewish media.
• Develop polished news releases, news alerts, backgrounders, fact sheets, talking points, FAQs, bios, media plans and pitches.
• Work with the Media Relations Associate to keep media lists accurate and up-to-date; create new lists as needed.
• Assist the Director, Media & Public Relations, with reports, plans, presentations, analyses, budgeting.
• Other duties as required.
