Job summary

Field AI in Irvine, CA is hiring a Mechanical Engineer for the Hardware Team to design and implement mechanical systems for sensing and compute platforms used in field robotics. You will work on enclosures, thermal management, and manufacturability, from CAD through production and field support.

You will collaborate with electrical, compute, and systems engineers, perform CAD in SolidWorks, run FEA and thermal simulations, select materials, and ensure reliability in harsh environments.

Qualifications

• B.S./M.S./Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design and model mechanical structures including enclosures and frames.
• Design and validate sensor mounts and interfaces.
• Implement IP-rated solutions with gaskets and seals.
• Develop and apply thermal management strategies.
• Ensure payload constraints via mass and volume budgets.
• Create CAD drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions.
• Coordinate with vendors for production and testing.
