Job summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking an experienced Mechatronics Engineer – Chassis Systems to drive front-end innovation in Troy, MI.

You will shape system architectures for sensing, mechatronics, and guidance across steering, braking, and axle systems within the Global Advanced Engineering & Innovation Group. You will translate market needs into formal technical requirements, lead early development, prototype testing, and work closely with PLM and software/electronics teams to deliver robust,

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or STEM field required.
“7+ years” of experience in mechatronics, sensing systems or system engineering.
Experience with ISO 26262 functional safety activities.
Background in vehicle systems and hardware integration.
Strong data analysis and ability to interpret large datasets.

Responsibilities

Concept design, development and system architecture for sensing and mechatronic solutions.
Translate product/market requirements into technical requirements and manage via Polarion.
Coordinate cross-functional integration with software, controls, electronics, mechanical and manufacturing teams.
Lead prototyping, bench/dyno/vehicle testing, and validation activities.
Engage suppliers for sensing technologies and ECUs, support technical reviews.
Mentor engineers, drive alignment on new technologies and future sensing opportunities.
