RTX Collins Aerospace in Winston-Salem is seeking a Senior Principal Mechatronics & Controls Engineer to lead algorithm development, motion control, and mechatronic system design for aerospace seat actuation.

You will define performance targets, build dynamic models, validate control strategies, and drive integration with hardware and software while meeting ARP/DO standards. This onsite role requires a STEM degree with 7–10+ years and leadership to guide complex programs.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM with 10+ years experience or advanced degree with 7+ years.
• Experience in control algorithms, motor control, mechatronic actuation, and system modeling.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop advanced motion control algorithms for multi-actuator systems.
• Design and validate control strategies for synchronized motion and fault tolerance.
• Build dynamic mechanical/electrical models to support robust control.
• Define performance, torque-speed, and thermal characteristics for systems.
• Architect end-to-end mechatronic systems with BLDC/servo motors and sensors.
• Lead system trade studies on actuators, power, EMC, and dynamics.
• Define verification/validation strategies for algorithm performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers for integration.
