Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. seeks a Sr. Mechanical/Thermal Engineer in the Network Product Development (NPD) team to own mechanical and thermal design of network devices and racks, from requirements to volume production.

You will perform CFD/FEA and develop heatsink and airflow solutions while collaborating across disciplines to ensure simple, reliable, and cost-effective cooling for data-center hardware. This hands-on role requires a self-starter with deep expertise in thermal management and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of hardware design and validation experience.
• Experience in 3D CAD.
• 2+ years of experience with ODM/JDM/CM suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Identify and analyze thermal and mechanical requirements for network platforms and rack assemblies.
• Conceive and develop thermal solutions balancing performance, cost, and manufacturability.
• Create and iterate detailed 3D CAD models of mechanical and thermal designs.
• Perform thermal simulations (CFD) and mechanical analyses (FEA) for all load conditions.
• Develop test plans and DOE-based reliability assessments.
• Define qualification plans and acceptance testing for volume production.
• Produce complete design packages with drawings, analyses, BOMs, and docs.
• Drive root cause analysis on field failures and work with operations to improve quality.
