Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Herndon, VA is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to own the design of resilient, cost-effective mechanical systems for AWS data centers.

You will drive cooling solutions and work with internal and external partners to deliver scalable infra products with industry-leading uptime. The role emphasizes ownership, collaboration, and impact on cost, reliability, and performance across global data centers, with travel up to 25% and multiple base locations including Seattle

Qualifications

• 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
• Experience in mission-critical facilities and related engineering disciplines.
• Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods.

Responsibilities

• Define and design liquid cooling equipment and related infrastructure.
• Collaborate with internal and external ecosystem partners to design and develop data center product solutions.
• Support field engineering and data center operation teams for root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Leverage economy of scale through standardization and modularization of data center products.
• Maintain and develop technical design procedures for piping and pipe support analysis.
• Provide technical subject matter expertise to peers and management.
• Develop business justification and narratives to promote new concepts.
• Lead key initiatives while showing ownership.
• Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify mechanical sub components.
• Provide product design support to team members.
• Write functional specs, verification plans, and test procedures.
• Travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.
