Job summary

QuEra Computing, Inc. in Boston, MA seeks a Senior Mechanical Technician to be the hands-on backbone of our Hardware Engineering team. You will fabricate, assemble, test, and troubleshoot the mechanical and fluid systems inside our quantum computers — turning tribal knowledge into repeatable procedures and fixtures that contract manufacturers can execute.

This is a senior, high-autonomy role. You’ll work directly with mechanical, electrical, and optical engineers and with physicists on live

Qualifications

• 7+ years as a mechanical technician or mechanical assembler in a precision hardware environment.
• Able to hold ±0.010" when needed; comfortable on mill.
• Hands-on with fluid systems and with pressure/leak testing.
• Able to lift 50 lb and work on ladders; active in a lab.
• Clear written and verbal communication; document findings.

Responsibilities

• Machine and module assembly: build and integrate mechanical subassemblies and test.
• Test, inspection, and troubleshooting: perform pressure/flow tests and diagnose issues.
• Fabrication and prototyping: operate shop tools, build fixtures, and create one-off parts.
• Manufacturing and contract-manufacturer support: create build instructions and perform first-article inspections; travel to vendors.
• Lab infrastructure and safety: maintain lab infrastructure and mentor junior staff.
