Jefferson Lab in Newport News, VA seeks a skilled technician to support installation of systems and equipment for the Hall A experimental program. You will fabricate, assemble, install, and test detectors, magnets, power supplies, and infrastructure hardware.

Responsibilities include interpreting drawings, welding, equipment maintenance, and providing technical support during operations. On-site work requires safe handling of mechanical and cryogenic systems and occasional overtime.

Qualifikationen

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical support, fabrication, and installation.
• Proficient in interpreting mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Experience with welding (SMAW, TIG, MIG) and assembly of detector/infrastructure hardware.
• Knowledge of safety policies and ability to work in a lab environment.

Aufgaben

• Demonstrate expertise interpreting complex mechanical drawings and schematics, with proficiency in precision fabrication and assembly.
• SMAW, TIG and/or MIG welding.
• Work with Hall technical team to ensure safe equipment troubleshooting and repairs.
• Operate cranes, forklifts, trucks with trailers, and aerial platforms.
• Complete mandatory safety training before working inside Experimental Hall.
• Install and maintain vacuum systems, beam line components, and cryogenic transfer systems.
