Job summary

Phoenix Tailings is seeking a Senior Mechanical Technician for our Exeter, NH team to build, maintain, and optimize large electromechanical systems powering our clean metals production. Training will begin at our Burlington, MA facility, with a transfer to the Exeter site upon readiness.

The role requires 5+ years of hands-on experience, strong troubleshooting, and the ability to read engineering drawings. You will work in a fast-paced startup culture focused on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working with industrial equipment and electromechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
• Experience with machine tools, welding, rigging and fabrication techniques.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in environments requiring respirator use.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, and maintain custom mechanical and electromechanical systems used in critical metals production.
• Perform precision alignments, calibrations, and diagnostics on high-power, high-temperature equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues involving motors, gear systems, pumps, and other large industrial components.
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance to ensure reliability and minimize downtime.
• Work closely with engineering teams to implement system upgrades and mechanical improvements.
• Maintain detailed logs, schematics, and repair documentation for traceability and operational excellence.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and contribute to continuous improvement of safety protocols.
• Support testing and validation of equipment performance during commissioning and ramp-up phases.
