Job summary

Engineering Economics, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Specialist to lead commissioning, testing, and documentation for mission-critical mechanical systems in data centers and high-reliability facilities.

You will collaborate with project leadership, clients, contractors, and cross-disciplinary teams to ensure reliable outcomes. The ideal candidate has 6+ years in mechanical commissioning, strong HVAC and MEP knowledge, and the ability to guide field work, review technical data, and report

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in mechanical systems, commissioning, facilities operations, engineering, construction, maintenance, or a related technical field.
• Advanced working knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled water systems, cooling infrastructure, controls, and related mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, sequences of operation, technical documentation, trend data, and system information.
• Advanced understanding of MEP systems, controls, and integrated building operations.
• Ability to lead assigned commissioning activities, guide field execution, and elevate complex technical or project issues appropriately.
• Strong troubleshooting, quality assurance, communication, documentation, coordination, and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and commissioning documentation tools or project software.
• Currently authorized to work in the U.S. full-time.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex commissioning, testing, and verification activities for mechanical systems supporting mission-critical facilities and data centers.
• Guide field execution, functional performance testing, startup support, and closeout activities across assigned mechanical scopes.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical system issues and drive practical resolution with project teams, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Review drawings, specifications, trend data, test results, and system information to evaluate readiness and performance.
• Communicate commissioning status, risks, findings, and recommendations clearly with clients, contractors, and internal project teams.
• Mentor Mechanical Specialists and Mechanical Support team members through field coaching, documentation review, and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to safe, reliable, and high-quality project delivery in fast-paced mission-critical environments.
