Senior Mechanical QA Representative – Data Center Construction

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Project Type: Large-Scale Mission Critical / Data Center Construction

Employment Type: Full-Time

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical QA Representative to support the construction and commissioning of a large hyperscale data center project in Columbus, Ohio. This role is responsible for overseeing mechanical quality assurance activities throughout all phases of construction, with a strong emphasis on piping, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems installation. The ideal candidate will have a hands‑on background in plumbing, pipe fitting, or mechanical construction trades combined with strong QA/QC experience on large industrial, mission critical, or commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and enforce project quality standards for all mechanical systems installations.
  • Perform inspections of plumbing, pipe fitting, HVAC, hydronic, and mechanical piping systems to verify compliance with project specifications, codes, and approved drawings.
  • Review and track quality documentation including ITPs, test reports, pressure tests, flushing reports, and turnover packages.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, field supervision, commissioning teams, and client representatives to resolve quality issues.
  • Conduct field audits and identify non-conforming work; assist in developing corrective action plans.
  • Verify installation workmanship meets project standards, manufacturer requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Support mechanical system startup, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Maintain detailed inspection records, punch lists, and QA reports.
  • Participate in owner walkthroughs and turnover activities.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety and quality culture across the project site.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical construction, QA/QC, or commissioning on large commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, or data center projects.
  • Strong background in plumbing, pipe fitting, or mechanical trades preferred.
  • Experience with mission critical or data center construction strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical codes, piping standards, welding inspections, and testing procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and submittals.
  • Experience managing quality documentation and turnover processes.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with contractors, engineers, and owners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software platforms.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
