QA/QC Engineer Data Center Construction - Columbus OH

This opportunity is with a leading EPC Company of data center design / build / commissioning solutions. The company provides a complete life cycle of solutions custom-fit to the requirements of their client's mission‑critical facilities. We are looking for an experienced Data Center QA/QC Engineer to support critical facility data center construction projects. The QA/QC Engineer will coordinate between Engineering and Construction Teams to drive the Cx process, be responsible for the overall quality of data center construction projects, focusing on installation, commissioning, and operation of key infrastructure systems in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver quality and consistent services and support as established by the Company while satisfying unique site requirements and ensuring proper performance reporting of key metrics for the site
  • Communicate with contractors and vendors to obtain documentation, prepare and run commissioning meetings, schedule technicians, and coordinate startup and testing of electrical and mechanical equipment in a datacenter environment
  • Perform periodic site walk‑throughs to ensure Company’s procedures (SOPs and MOPs) and standards are followed, assisting Facilities Manager, Technicians, and contracted vendors
  • Conduct site acceptance, commissioning, and validation of the facility’s systems to ensure the site meets industry standards and verifies the integrity and performance of customers’ mission‑critical support infrastructure
  • Perform L1, L2, and L3 QA inspections on all equipment
  • Develop and review standard operating procedures (SOPs) and methods of procedures (MOPs) for all work on critical data center facility equipment
  • Oversee, verify, and audit scripts
  • Create L1/L2/L3 QA checklists using software such as CxAlloy to confirm completion of all subcontractor and GC inspections
  • Maintain and manage QA issues log
  • Conduct analyses and prepare reports on all aspects of critical facility operations and maintenance
  • Provide experience with routine and emergency service on a variety of state‑of‑the‑art critical systems including chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, fire detection/suppression, building monitoring systems, medium‑voltage switchgear, diesel generators, UPS systems, and power distribution equipment
  • Work with business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency
  • Ensure constant readiness in support of the mission goal of 99.999% uptime
  • Design Critical Environment Programs for both internal and external clients
  • Coordinate with Design/Construction Team to focus the Cx process
  • Assess, recommend, and implement industry best practices into new and existing Critical Environment Programs
  • Develop process documentation and training materials
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant experience including military background (a huge plus)
  • NETA certification (a plus)
  • Journeyman license (a plus)
  • L1, L2, L3 Cx testing experience in a Data Center Environment (a huge plus)
  • 2‑5 years of experience in data center facility operations, commissioning, or military
  • 2‑5 years of Quality Assurance / Quality Controls, Commissioning, MEP Coordination, or other relevant experience
  • Previous experience working with a GC or 3rd Party CxA Company (a huge plus)
  • Solid understanding of critical power systems/electrical power equipment or mechanical systems/HVAC equipment in a data center environment
  • Experience analyzing processes, creating process documentation, developing operational procedures, and communicating effectively with business and operations managers
  • Experience in the Military / Veterans (a huge plus, experience with Electrical/Mechanical: Navy nukes – EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army – Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, Army National Guard, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, Teams)
  • Experience with BIM 360 / ACC, CxAlloy, end‑user ACMS as necessary
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; good presentation skills
  • Superior analytical, planning, and problem‑resolution skills
  • Highly organized with proven project management abilities
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Self‑motivated and able to work with a team in a high‑paced/high‑pressure environment
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Open to travel Monday‑Friday, home on weekends, limited travel if located near a project
