Job summary

Sperton Global AS is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead complex commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects across Upstate New York. You will own project delivery from preconstruction through turnover, with accountability for profitability and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
• Extensive PM experience with a commercial/industrial mechanical contractor.
• Proven track record managing $5M+ projects.
• Experience managing a $15M+ portfolio concurrently.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and process piping systems.
• Hands-on budgeting, forecasting, change orders, labor productivity, procurement, and profitability.
• Experience in a union construction environment and working with union trades.
• Ability to mentor Project Managers and project teams.
• Strong communication with executives, customers, subcontractors, and field operations.
• Understanding of VDC/BIM, prefabrication, fabrication-shop coordination, or lean construction.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Leading projects from preconstruction through turnover, commissioning, and closeout.
• Managing individual mechanical projects valued at $5M+ and portfolios over $15M.
• Owning project financial performance, including forecasting and gross margin.
• Identifying risks early and developing mitigation plans.
• Mentoring Project Managers and other team members.
• Coordinating with Superintendents, field leadership, and union trades.
• Working with VDC/BIM and fabrication teams to maximize prefabrication and efficiency.
• Overseeing major equipment, subcontractors, and long-lead procurement.
• Partnering with regional leadership on manpower planning and capacity.
• Maintaining strong relationships with owners, GCs, subs, vendors, and labor partners.
• Reinforcing safety culture across projects and driving process improvements.
