Armstrong World Industries (AWI) has a job opportunity in Lancaster, PA for a Senior/Principal Mechanical Project Engineer. You will lead major capital projects, specify equipment, and work with vendors to design, procure, install, and commission assets across production lines.

The role requires strong mechanical engineering knowledge, 5–7 years of project planning in manufacturing, cross-functional collaboration, and experience with SAP ERP.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering degree required; PE/EIT preferred.
• 5–7 years of project planning and execution in manufacturing/industrial environments.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams including maintenance and operations.
• SAP ERP experience for project controls.
• Lean Practitioner certification or Lean manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute major capital projects on cost, schedule, safety, and performance.
• Specify production equipment and partner with vendors to design, procure, install, and commission assets.
• Support capitalization from concept development through installation, commissioning, and start-up.
• Perform root cause analysis on equipment/process issues and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with plant engineering, operations, maintenance, and vendors to meet requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers and maintenance personnel across teams.
• Support project estimating, budgeting, cost tracking, and project financial management.
