Job summary

Investigo is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical/Product Design Engineer to contribute to the design and development of innovative consumer products from concept through production. This full-time role offers flexible PTO and onsite preference in San Francisco, with remote work possible and monthly travel to the SF office.

Responsibilities

• Perform analyses (thermal, fluid, structural) to validate designs.
• Partner with industrial design and product management to refine requirements.
• Support manufacturing partners in Asia for launches and ongoing production.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical/Product Design Engineer to contribute to the design and development of innovative consumer products from concept through production. This is a full-time role with flexible PTO and no set shift requirements. Preference is given to candidates who can work onsite in San Francisco, but remote work is possible with monthly travel to the San Francisco office.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex electromechanical systems, including plastic, metal, and soft goods components integrated with novel sensors and actuators.
• Drive product development activities across the lifecycle, including concept generation, CAD design, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing ramp.
• Collaborate closely with electrical, software, reliability, and manufacturing engineering teams to solve technical challenges and deliver high-quality products.
• Perform engineering analysis and testing to validate designs, including thermal, fluid, and structural analyses.
• Partner with industrial design, product management, and other stakeholders to refine product requirements and support feature development.
• Support manufacturing partners in Asia to ensure successful product launches and ongoing production.

Requirements

• 5+ years of consumer product design experience, including injection molding, sheet metal forming, and sensor/electronics integration.
• Experience bringing high-volume consumer products from concept to production.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks, NX, or Creo.
• Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing processes, DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, functional dimensioning, and GD&T.
• Experience with root cause analysis, DOE, and quality engineering methodologies.
• Ability and willingness to travel to China as needed.
