Yamaichi Electronics USA, Inc. is seeking a Product Design Engineer - Electronics in San Jose, CA.

The role focuses on designing and validating interconnect products, prototyping, testing, and providing engineering support to the Sales team and customers. The ideal candidate has 2+ years in mechanical or product design engineering within electronics/connectors, strong CAD skills, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of proven experience in mechanical/product design engineering, preferably electronics/connectors/semiconductors.
• Strong background in mechanical/electrical design, product development, and engineering principles.
• Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent) and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Design and validate new interconnect products, including prototyping, testing, and simulations.
• Provide technical support to Sales for product inquiries and applications.
• Understand market trends for new product development.
• Compose product specifications, technical and quality reports for customers and marketing.
• Maintain production control specs and ensure high-quality production processes.
• Collaborate with factories on venders, pricing, and qualification of venders.
• Address RoHS/REACH compliance requirements and support sales objectives.
• Travel occasionally as needed.
• Devote full-time effort and professionalism in assigned duties.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years engineering/design experience within the connector and/or electronics industries. This person will also be comfortable working with both the sales team and customers and possess excellent communication skills.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the design and validation of new interconnect products involving various development activities (prototyping, testing, simulations).
• Provide technical support to the Sales team for inquiries related to products and their applications.
• Understand technical trends in the market for new product development.
• Communicate with and support customers regarding engineering and quality issues.Compose product specifications, technical and quality reports for customers, as well as technical papers for marketing and standard association activities.
• Generate production control specifications for factories and qualify products
• Maintain support with factories to establish high quality products and production processes.
• Assist internal teams regarding engineering aspects for pricing structures, vender selection and qualification of venders.
• Support and respond to compliance requirements from customers (RoHS, REACH ....).
• Facilitate development of sales objectives, strategies, advertising, promotional programs and ensure their execution and other different tasks as may be assigned to you from time to time by the Company.
• Devote full time, ability, attention, energy and skills in performing all duties as assigned and delegated to you by the Company.

What We’re Looking For

Please note: This is a on-site position in San Jose, CA. Remote work and relocation assistance are not offered for this position.

• Experience: 2+ years of proven experience in mechanical and/or product design engineering, preferably within the electronics, connector or semiconductor industry. Experience with electronic components, connectors, or precision mechanical assemblies is a plus.
• Technical Background: Strong background in mechanical/electrical design, product development, and engineering principles, including experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent), Thermal simulation, technical drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing processes.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or a related engineering discipline required.
• Skills: Proficiency in mechanical design, 3D modeling, product development, design validation, tolerance analysis, material selection, and problem-solving. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and improve products while meeting quality, performance, and manufacturing requirements.
• Travel: Willingness to travel occasionally as needed.
