Job summary

City of New York seeks a Senior Estimator specialized in mechanical and plumbing trades for the NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Project Controls. The role involves preparing and reviewing cost estimates, change orders, and construction documents, while aligning with project schedules and procedures.

You will collaborate with third-party estimators, design consultants, and agency staff on all project controls tasks during front-end planning and execution.

Qualifications

• Four-year high school diploma or equivalent with six years of mechanical estimating experience, including HVAC or plumbing experience.
• Education/experience equivalent to the above; up to four years of college credits toward a mechanical engineering bachelor's degree, with two years of relevant estimating experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Front End Planning estimates for mechanical and plumbing scopes.
• Review cost estimates and construction change orders; verify against drawings, specs and schedules.
• Lead project controls tasks: scheduling review, risk analysis, bid analysis, and cost tracking.
• Mentor junior project controls staff and coordinate with stakeholders and consultants.
