Job summary

TP Mechanical Contractors is seeking a skilled mechanic to coordinate piping and equipment installation for mechanical systems. You will read blueprints, communicate with on-site teams and subcontractors, and lead or delegate tasks as needed.

Responsibilities include planning manpower, materials, safety management, and sign-off on drawings and start-ups. A minimum of five years in field plumbing or heating operations is required, with a stable work history.

• Minimum 5 years commercial experience in field plumbing, sprinkler or heating operations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate manpower, materials and scheduling for on-site activities; serve as main contact for customer, general contractor and owner.
• Maintain safety as a priority; conduct pre-safety meetings and toolbox talks; OSHA 30+ hours preferred.
• Preplan jobs by reviewing plans/specs, identifying prefabrication opportunities and needed materials.
• Review and sign off on drawings; coordinate with CAD designer and FAB shop.
• Schedule work to minimize downtime; ensure tools, equipment and materials are on-site when needed.
• Monitor productivity and track progress against estimates; manage crew goals and rewards.
• Handle orders/deliveries, manage back orders, and maintain submittal logs.
• Communicate weekly with Project Manager on productivity, RFIs, submittals and schedules.
• Inspect progress daily for quality and safety; walk the job site regularly.
• Manage personnel, subs and vendors to build teamwork and morale.
• Close out jobs with complete testing, start-up sign-offs and as-built drawings; finalize punch list.
