Job summary

Stinson LLP seeks an experienced patent agent to join our Intellectual Property and Technology Division, focusing on drafting and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications for clients across industries.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Electrical Engineering, 5+ years of patent experience, strong writing and communication skills, and the ability to manage a docket and coordinate with foreign firms and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent and experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
• Exceptional writing, analytical, and communication skills.
• Minimum 5 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Experience managing patent prosecution docket and ownership during all phases.
• Ability to collaborate with supervising partners, docketing staff, and attorneys.
• Law firm or in-house IP experience.

Responsibilities

• Draft and globally prosecute patent applications.
• Coordinate with foreign law firms to file foreign patent applications.
• Coordinate with clients for processing and legalization of documents for filing in U.S. and foreign offices.
• Review country requirements and obtain Foreign Filing Licenses where needed.
• Prepare and send notices to clients about deadlines.
• Correspond with foreign firms regarding filings, deadlines and billings.
• Anticipate partner or client needs for specific projects.
• Delegate effectively with Paralegals or Legal Administrative Assistants.
• Meet billable hour target of 1650 per year.
• Other duties as assigned; maintain professional and customer service standards.
