Job summary

The University of New England is seeking a Senior Mechanical Maintenance Technician on the Biddeford campus to lead installation, maintenance and repair of complex mechanical systems, including HVAC and BAS. The role supports licensed operations and provides mentorship to maintenance staff, coordinating with contractors and ensuring safe, compliant work practices.

Required are state licenses, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

High school education with 5 years of relevant technical training and field experience.
State of Maine licenses: Boiler Operator, Oil Burner Technician, Gas Technician, Master Plumber or other relevant mechanical licenses.
Broad knowledge of HVAC, BAS, plumbing and electrical systems.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform required physical tasks.
Monday–Friday 1st shift; may require evenings, weekends and on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, repair and provide operational support for complex mechanical systems across campus facilities.
Maintain HVAC and BAS systems, manage mechanical equipment and related building infrastructure.
Provide training and guidance to Mechanical Maintenance staff and coordinate with outside contractors and vendors.
Plan and supervise daily maintenance operations for mechanical, automotive fleet and electrical systems.
Ensure compliance with safety training, regulatory requirements and report hazards promptly.
