Job summary

L3Harris Technologies seeks a Lead Mechanical Engineer in Millersville, MD, to spearhead mechanical design for Seabed Systems, oversee procurement support, environmental testing, and production deployment. You will coordinate across functions to ensure smooth transitions from design to production and deployment.

The role requires leadership of a mechanical design team, experience with harsh marine environments, and ability to obtain a security clearance; travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 9+ years of relevant experience; Graduate Degree with 7+ years preferred.
• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of related experience.
• Ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Technical leadership of the Mechanical Engineering team through full program lifecycle: design, development, manufacturing, qualification, integration and test, transition to production, and production support.
• Provide guidance and participate in major design reviews, milestones, meetings, and project planning sessions.
• Develop mechanical technical approaches for future proposals.
• Participate in RCCA initiatives.
• Travel up to 10% to vendor or manufacturing facilities.
