Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Lead, Mechanical Engineer for the Millersville, MD site with responsibilities spanning technical leadership, design, and production support for Seabed Systems. The successful candidate will drive mechanical design excellence, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and ensure seamless transitions from program to production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and minimum 9 years of related experience; graduate degree with 7 years; in lieu of a degree, 13 years of related experience.
• Experience leading a Mechanical Design team.
• Experience with electronics packaging for harsh marine environments.
• Experience with SolidWorks and PDM Vault.
• Experience with undersea acoustics/sonar equipment.
• Experience with DFx (Design for Simplicity, Manufacturability, Testability, etc).
• Experience working with government contracts, requirements, and compliance.
• Ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Technical leadership of the Mechanical Engineering team throughout full program lifecycle from design to production support.
• Provide guidance and support to achieve project goals through design reviews, technical meetings and planning sessions.
• Be a requirements-driven design engineer.
• Contribute EVMS data and forecasts with quantified backup data.
• Develop mechanical approaches for future proposals.
• Participate in RCCA initiatives.
• Travel up to 10% to vendor or manufacturing facilities.
