Job summary

General Motors Manufacturing - USA in Buffalo, NY is seeking qualified Mechanical Journeypersons (Pipefitters) to perform maintenance, repair, and fabrication of piping and mechanical systems on industrial equipment. Qualifications

• At least six (6) years of related experience in a mechanical trade or a U.S. DOL certificate in a mechanical trade.
• Must be able to complete GM hiring process requirements with assessments, drug test, and background check.
• Must be at least 18 years old and eligible to work in the United States.
• Willing to work flexible shifts including day, afternoon, night, overtime, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Follow OSHA and GM safety procedures while maintaining, dismantling, repairing and replacing mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints for conveyors, robots and automation systems; set up and operate CNC machines (lathes, mills, grinders).
• Layout, assemble, fabricate and repair piping systems; install valves and fittings; use hand and power tools as required.
• Operate mobile equipment (forklifts, cranes) and rig loads to support maintenance tasks.
• Inspect components for tolerances using calipers, micrometers and gauges to ensure conformance to specs.
• Adhere to quality standards to ensure defect-free parts and proper dimensions.
