Qualifications

• Knowledge of current codes and regulatory standards governing the mechanical construction industry in Florida.
• Skill in review and interpretation of construction plans and applicable codes/regulatory standards.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; communicate modifications to ensure compliance.

Responsibilities

• Performs systematic site inspections of skilled trades for new and existing construction to ensure code compliance and permit requirements.
• Verifies compliance with permits, plans, and specifications; reviews and approves work of completed projects.
• Collaborates with contractors, engineers, architects, homeowners and staff to ensure required documentation is completed for permits and licenses.
• Reads and interprets blueprints/specifications to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Identifies code violations and conducts re-inspections to achieve compliance.
• Issues written violations and follows up inspections to verify corrections.
• Maintains and updates inspection records and reports.
• Coordinates with Building Official on unresolved code issues and regulatory requirements.
• Keeps current knowledge of regulatory trends and completes continuing education for recertification.
