Job summary

Nike seeks two Senior Innovation Engineers (Mechanical) to shape the future of sport within the SPACE Explore Engineering team in Beaverton. You will act as a mechanical engineering SME, collaborating with engineers, designers, and sport scientists to drive design concepts from sketches to prototypes and scale.

The role emphasizes rapid prototyping, cross-functional collaboration, and innovative problem solving in ambiguous environments, with focus on commercialization-ready concepts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; education/experience as acceptable.
• 6+ years in mechanical design engineering or equivalent.
• Prototyping mechanical systems is essential; electrical prototyping is a plus.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, firmware, control systems and software topics.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and scientists to shape innovative mechanical systems.
• Act as mechanical engineering SME across teams, providing design rationales and technical recommendations.
• Develop quick strike prototypes to move concepts forward efficiently.
• Create specifications and coordinate external vendors and services for prototypes and proofs-of-concept.
