Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC/mechanical scope on complex industrial and EPC projects. You will design, specify, and integrate HVAC systems, coordinate multidisciplinary design, manage vendor interactions, and support construction and commissioning activities.

You will mentor junior engineers and designers while ensuring project quality, budget, and schedule objectives are met. This remote-friendly role offers contract-to-hire prospects based out of Charlotte, NC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and professional HVAC focus.
• Minimum 12+ years engineering experience in EPC or chemical/process settings.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary HVAC design for complex projects.
• Experience with 3D BIM integration and BIM coordination.
• Ability to develop equipment specs, datasheets, and vendor documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical and HVAC scope for complex industrial/EPC projects.
• Develop detailed specifications and data sheets for HVAC equipment.
• Perform HVAC system sizing and selection to meet performance goals.
• Coordinate HVAC equipment in 3D models and BIM processes.
• Review layouts, supports, clearances, and maintenance access.
• Engage in vendor bid evaluations and clarify documentation.
• Define electrical loads and utility interfaces for HVAC equipment.
• Support construction, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to budgeting and estimates.
