Job summary

The Austin Company is seeking an experienced Estimator in Ohio to lead cost estimation for complex construction projects. You will collaborate with engineering, design, and field teams to develop accurate quantities and costs for mechanical scopes and related disciplines.

Your role focuses on outlining specifications, securing labor rates and vendor quotes, and delivering timely estimates that reflect project risk and scope changes. Strong communication and data analysis are essential.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in Construction Management, Estimating, or related field.
• 7–9 years’ experience estimating large, complex construction projects with a team OR 10–15 years equivalent Mechanical estimating experience.
• Ability to coordinate with Engineering and other disciplines to produce accurate estimates.

Responsibilities

• Prepare outline specifications describing the scope of work included in the estimate.
• Ensure accurate quantities and pricing for materials in a specific discipline and project section.
• Complete estimates promptly to allow adequate review by superiors.
• Monitor scope changes and adjust estimates accordingly.
• Re-evaluate costs during design and prepare change orders for the estimator’s discipline.
• Coordinate estimate sections with other disciplines to ensure completeness.
• Obtain labor rates and quotes for materials and systems to establish accuracy.
• Organize estimating data and compare projected vs. actual costs after project completion.
