Job summary

The Austin Company in Ohio is seeking a staff specialist to provide technical guidance on complex design engineering assignments. You will apply broad engineering knowledge and independently address design problems, collaborating with project teams.

Requires a 4-year engineering degree, 8–11 years of related experience, and professional registration. Some travel (up to 25%) may be necessary as projects span multiple disciplines.

Qualifications

• Requires a 4-year engineering degree and typically 8-11 years’ related experience.
• Professional registration is required at this level.
• cognizant of the capabilities and limitations of various software packages and automated engineering and design equipment.

Responsibilities

• Participates in development of project design concepts and criteria.
• Makes recommendations on project staffing.
• Analyzes complex design problems requiring new or improved techniques or procedures.
• Consults with construction personnel concerning design constructability.
• Monitors project progress for technical accuracy and adherence to schedule and budget.
• Represents projects at meetings and conferences.
• May plan, organize, and supervise design engineering activities for large projects.
• Provides direction to lower level team members.
