Job summary

Sciaky Inc. in Chicago seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design mechanical components and assemblies for automated welding equipment and EBAM systems, ensuring customer specifications and performance. You will work with cross-functional teams and present designs in formal reviews.

Responsibilities include documenting calculations, coordinating with multiple departments, creating ASME drawings, and supporting manufacturing with as-built changes. On-site work is required several days per week.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanical design experience in OEM or capital equipment.
• Experience using Creo/Pro-E modeling software with GD&T proficiency.
• Experience checking mechanical drawings with GD&T rules.
• Experience documenting engineering calculations and design changes for reference.
• Preferred: experience with cost reduction activities (e.g., DFA/DFM).

Responsibilities

• Design machine components and tooling with proper mechanical fit and tolerances from customer specs.
• Coordinate work with Applications, Electrical, Software, Process, and Manufacturing teams.
• Document engineering calculations and decisions and reference existing designs where applicable.
• Present finished designs to customers during design reviews.
• Create ASME-style technical drawings for fabrication and assembly.
• Support Manufacturing during build and document as-built changes.
• Help generate machine manuals by identifying spare parts and design intent.
• Review products to suggest cost reductions and improvements.
